Securing Data at Rest

AlphaTrust® e-Sign uses two primary data stores:

  1. SQL Server data (transaction data and metadata, user account data) - housed the Pronto SQL Server database.
  2. Document repository - housed on the file system in a hierarchical folder system.

AlphaTrust® e-Sign supports mechanisms to encrypt this data at rest. For SQL data, if you use the Enterprise edition of SQL Server we recommend using Transparent Data Encryption, a feature of SQL Server. For lesser versions of SQL Server and for file system data, AlphaTrust® e-Sign supports the use of the Windows encrypting file system (EFS). Please see the separate topic Using the Windows Server Encrypting File System with AlphaTrust AlphaTrust® e-Sign".
