Securing Data at Rest
AlphaTrust e-Sign™ uses two primary data stores:
- SQL Server data (transaction data and metadata, user account data) - housed the
ProntoSQL Server database.
- Document repository - housed on the file system in a hierarchical folder system.
AlphaTrust e-Sign™ supports mechanisms to encrypt this data at rest. For SQL data, if you use the Enterprise edition of SQL Server we recommend using Transparent Data Encryption, a feature of SQL Server. For lesser versions of SQL Server and for file system data, AlphaTrust e-Sign™ supports the use of the Windows encrypting file system (EFS). Please see the separate topic Using the Windows Server Encrypting File System with AlphaTrust AlphaTrust e-Sign™".
